Julie Dalton – Why are WE building Skills street?

I come from an entrepreneurial, creative family and we are always building, inspiring and developing.

Gulliver’s Valley is our fourth theme park and we’ve been totally overwhelmed by the welcome that we’ve received in Rotherham and across South Yorkshire.

Our theme park is now coming up to its 2nd anniversary of opening, yes, we opened it in the middle of the global pandemic, and no, the opening was not what we would have planned but we did the best that we could, in accordance with the guidance at the time.

What we’ve achieved over the last two years has been incredible. We’ve welcomed thousands of families from near and far through our doors and brought overnight visitors to the region. We’ve also employed lots of people from the local community and really started to get to know the make up of the area we call home.

What we’ve discovered is that there is a huge skills gap and the idea behind Skills Street is that it will be an inspiring innovative place, to help to address that.

Through this amazing new venture, with its Skills Street, filled with businesses, opportunities to play as you learn and the chance to develop the necessary skills to progress in your chosen career, Skills Street will be the catalyst for change.

Working with schools, so that we are inspiring children and young people with the range of careers on offer, working with businesses so that we can help to ensure that the next generation have the skills needed to work in their sector, be that engineering, manufacturing, banking, hospitality, or retail, and working with the local community we’ll be a space for groups to thrive.

Skills Street will be a welcome addition to Gulliver’s Valley and with our partners we’ll inspire, immerse, inform and innovate the next generation.
