Skills Street Photo Competition – Full Terms & Conditions

1. About the Competition

The Skills Street Photo Competition is organised by Skills Street CIC (“Skills Street”, “we”, “us” or “the Promoter”).

The competition celebrates learning, creativity and skills development by inviting participants to submit a photograph showing themselves or someone else:

  • Trying a new skill

  • Learning something new

  • Practising or developing a skill

  • Challenging themselves to improve a skill

By submitting an entry, entrants confirm that they have read, understood and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Competition Period

The competition opens on 19th September 2026.

The competition closes at 5pm on 2nd September 2026.

Entries received after the closing date and time will not be considered.

Skills Street accepts no responsibility for entries which are incomplete, delayed, lost, incorrectly submitted or not received due to technical problems or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

3. Eligibility

The competition is open to UK residents, subject to the requirements set out in these Terms and Conditions.

Anyone under the age of 18 must have the permission of their parent or legal guardian before entering.

Where the entrant is under 18, the parent or legal guardian may be required to confirm their consent before an entry can be accepted as a winning entry.

Employees of Skills Street, individuals directly involved in administering or judging the competition, and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.

No purchase or payment is necessary to enter the competition.

4. How to Enter

To enter, participants must submit a photograph showing a person trying, learning, developing or challenging a skill.

Entries may be submitted by:

  • Posting the photograph on social media and tagging Skills Street

Where an entrant posts the photograph to their own social media account, their post must be visible to Skills Street so that the entry can be identified and judged.

Entrants are responsible for ensuring their entry has been submitted correctly.

Only one entry per person can be submitted.

Entries submitted through automated systems, fake accounts or by any other method designed to unfairly increase an entrant's chances may be disqualified.

5. Photo Requirements

Entries must be suitable for a family-friendly audience and must relate to the theme of learning, practising or developing a skill.

Entries must not:

  • Contain offensive, discriminatory, threatening, abusive or inappropriate material.

  • Depict dangerous or unlawful behaviour.

  • Encourage unsafe activities.

  • Include material that infringes another person's copyright, privacy or other rights.

  • Include branding, content or material that the entrant does not have permission to use.

  • Contain personal information about another person without their permission.

  • Be digitally manipulated in a way that misrepresents the activity being shown.

Skills Street reserves the right to reject or remove any entry that we reasonably believe breaches these requirements.

6. Ownership and Permission to Submit Photographs

The person submitting the photograph must either:

  • Have taken the photograph themselves; or

  • Have permission from the photographer or copyright owner to submit it to the competition.

Entrants remain the owner of any copyright they hold in their photograph.

By entering, the entrant gives Skills Street permission to reproduce, display and share the submitted photograph for the purposes of:

  • Administering and promoting the competition.

  • Announcing or showcasing the winning entry.

  • Sharing competition entries or results on Skills Street's social media channels.

  • Displaying the winning entry on the Skills Street website.

  • Promoting Skills Street and its activities in connection with this competition.

This permission is non-exclusive, meaning the entrant remains free to use their photograph elsewhere.

7. Photographs Featuring Other People

If a photograph clearly identifies another person, the entrant must have that person's permission to submit and share the photograph.

If the photograph includes a person under the age of 18, the entrant must have permission from that child's parent or legal guardian before submitting the photograph.

By submitting an entry featuring another individual, the entrant confirms that the appropriate permission has been obtained.

Skills Street may request confirmation of this permission before publishing an entry or declaring it the winning photograph.

If adequate permission cannot be confirmed, Skills Street reserves the right not to publish the photograph or to select another winning entry.

8. Safeguarding and Children's Images

Skills Street takes the privacy and safeguarding of children and young people seriously.

Parents and guardians should carefully consider the photograph they submit and should avoid including unnecessary personal information that could identify a child's:

  • Full name

  • Home address

  • School

  • Contact information

  • Exact location

  • Other sensitive personal information

Skills Street may decide not to publish an image where we believe doing so could create a safeguarding, privacy or welfare concern.

Where reasonably possible, Skills Street will respect requests from a parent, guardian or individual pictured in an entry to stop using or remove an image from Skills Street-controlled channels.

Any material changes will be communicated as clearly as reasonably possible.

The competition Terms and Conditions will not be changed in a way that unfairly disadvantages participants who have already entered except where necessary due to circumstances outside Skills Street's reasonable control or to comply with applicable law.

18. Social Media Platforms
